Appreciating Teachers
Back in August, I mentioned in our newsletter about stepping outside of my comfort zone as the school year began. Those of you who read our blog on a regular basis know that my husband and I had just enrolled one of our boys in online public school for the first time. I was feeling a little overwhelmed and anxious as I took on the role of my son’s learning coach.
My role has been to support and motivate our son. In addition to monitoring his schedule, keeping him on task, and communicating with his teachers — I found myself engaged firsthand in the learning process. And as the months flew by, my appreciation for teachers and educators grew exponentially!
It’s impossible to overstate the importance of a teacher’s work. It requires attention, patience, time, hard work, support, communication, and encouragement. It’s not a job that will earn you a six-figure income. The rewards can be intangible. They are found in seeing the results of your hard work in action, every single day. In the look of satisfaction and accomplishment on a student’s face. In knowing that you’ve made an impact on someone’s life.
Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up May 7th – 11th. Take time to say “thank you” to these real-life superheroes in your child’s life. Check our blog for a week’s worth of ideas to show the educators in your life how special you think they are.
