Hot on the heels of a safety alert for baby slings, which warned that slings should not be used for a child younger than four months old regardless of the brand, the US. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has now issued a massive recall.
More than 1 million baby slings by the maker Infantino have been recalled after three babies died in the carriers, according to the CPSC.
In the last two decades, at least 14 babies have died while riding in an infant sling, 12 of which were under 4 months.
If you own an Infantino Slingrider or Wendy Bellisimo sling, you should discontinue using the sling immediately and contact Infantino for a free alternative product, with a choice of a Wrap & Tie infant carrier, or a 2 in 1 Shopping Cart Cover, or a 3 in 1 Grow & Play Activity Gym. A Jittery Pals Rattle will also be provided.
Here’s a link to the list of affected SlingRider and Wendy Bellisimo model numbers. These were sold between 2003 and March 2010 at stores like Burlington Coat Factory and Walmart as well as online at Amazon.com. The Wendy sling was sold by Babies”R”Us only.
