Black Friday In Your Pajamas
By Alicia Werle, Breakingfreeseminars.com
It’s that time of year again….Black Friday Madness is Finally Here! Ever since I can remember I would be the one standing out in the freezing cold in front of Kohl’s at 3:00am with the line wrapped around the building. Yes, sometimes it was raining and, yes, pregnant or not, I was there. I would be eagerly waiting to get in the door just to make a bee-line for all of the items on my list. Then I would repeat this over and over for every store until I crashed around lunch time. Sound familiar?
Well that was me prior to two years or so ago when I found my new lifestyle. In the world of a true couponer every day of the year is Black Friday. Now I avoid the crowds, freezing cold, long lines and happily shop from the comfort of my own home in my pajamas.
Use these simple tips to enjoy more time with your family this year and get the same great deals without ever leaving your house.
Tip # 1: Shop Online Before Black Friday
I was surprised to learn that most Black Friday deals go live on Thanksgiving Day online and some popular stores like Kohl’s, Best Buy and ToysRus go live several days before the Big Event. You can get the exact same deals by ordering the things on your Christmas list and items you have been dying to get at rock bottom prices. Stores do not typically advertise these things because they want you to venture out into the store itself where you are likely to spend 25% more than you intended.
Tip # 2: Follow a Few Money Saving Websites
So why reinvent the wheel if you do not have to. I used to spend hours preparing for Black Friday by reading through ads, reading sales articles and mapping out my driving schedule. Now I let other people do the work for me. I find deals and rebates you can get after purchases that I would have never thought possible just by following two or three good couponing websites.
Do yourself a favor today and load the Passion for Savings and Krazy Coupon Lady Apps on your phone right away. You can also register for their emails to come in as deals go live as well as get text messages on super hot deals. If you are an avid Facebook user you can like them on FB and see all of the deals they post live second by second.
You can also follow “Yes We Coupon” if you are using Facebook to find even more “can’t pass up” deals. A little inside secret is that these websites usually only post deals that are 70% off or more. Surprisingly, here are thousands of them.
Tip # 3: Don’t Forget Your Coupons
Most people do not realize they are leaving hundreds of dollars on the table when they shop because they are not using coupons or coupon codes. This same rule applies for Black Friday deals as well. Yes even though items are on sale you can still use a coupon to get an even better deal.
One simple rule to follow on Black Friday and pretty much all year long is “Do not purchase anything unless it is on sale and you have a coupon or coupon code.” Even though an item is 50 or 75 percent off, you can still find a coupon code by using sites like Retail Me Not, Coupons.com and Deal Catcher. A few examples of coupons you can find easily are percentage off coupons like 20 percent off of any purchase and free shipping coupon codes.
Tip # 4: Grab the Late Night Coffee
I have always been a night owl so this one is pretty easy for me, but for those of you that are early to bed sleepers, you will have to make an exception one night a year. Tonight at around 10 PM Eastern Time make sure have rounded up your Coffee and are in front of your computer. The money saving sites that I posted above will be posting the hottest Black Friday deals as they go live online. If you want Bath and Body Works for Lotions for $3 (Reg. $12), Brand New Skillets to Make Bacon and Eggs for 1 penny (Reg. $30) or Hot Fisher Price Toys Like Little People’s Cinderella’s Castle for $12 (Reg. $54), then its worth losing one night’s sleep.
For the last few years stores have been opening earlier and earlier to make a few more dollars and extend more hours for their excited shoppers. The problem with that is we pretty much skip Thanksgiving preparing for Black Friday sales. This year save hundreds of dollars and spend more time with your family by avoiding going out in the crazy crowds. Join me tonight with your hot chocolate or piping hot coffee on your couch following all of the hottest deals in your comfortable pajamas.
I hope you all enjoy a blessed Thanksgiving!!
