It’s 2014 (already?), and we have put together a list of our blog posts you liked most in 2013. While we have published a number of parenting articles before, 2013 was the first year we made a concerted effort to develop the Blog portion of our website. It’s been a pleasant surprise to see how many people have read and commented on our posts. If you’re new to Muscogee Moms, or haven’t seen much of our Blog, this will give you a good idea of what our blog is about!
1. Poem: If you Give a Mom a Muffin
If your kids like the book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (by Laura Joffe Numeroff), then you’ll enjoy this poem by Beth Brubaker! Reprinted with Permission.
2. Tiny House equals big life: right?
Occasionally my husband and I talk about downsizing to a smaller house. We joke about building a tiny house with less than 500-square-feet. Just imagine all the money we could save with a lower mortgage payment and utility bills. A Lilliputian life-style may or may not be the best idea for our family. Still, it’s fun to imagine.
3. Top 5 Teacher Gift Ideas
Looking for great teacher gift ideas for your child’s teacher? Wondering what a teacher would like to receive during Teacher Appreciation Week? We asked our fans who are educators to tell us what they really want this time of year. Read on for their suggestions.
4. Kids Health: Preteen breast development
Breast development in tween girls can be a source of anxiety. While this stage of development is certainly normal, she’s likely to feel self-conscious and awkward and maybe embarrassed. We asked local OB/GYN Serena Tidwell, M.D. to answer common questions your tween may have about her developing body.
5. J.R.R. Tolkien Quotes: 10 Life Lessons for Kids
Here are 10 of our favorite quotes from the brilliant books by J.R.R. Tolkien that we want to pass along as life lessons to our kids. Several quotes are from the movie adaptations by Peter Jackson, but their sentiments have some textual support in Tolkien’s original novels.
Thanks to all of you for your support of Muscogee Moms and best wishes to you in the new year!
