The John B. Amos Cancer Center, part of the Columbus Regional Healthcare System, is offering free head, neck and oral cancer screenings.
Friday, April 19, 2013.
12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The screenings will be at the Columbus Regional Conference Center at The Medical Center.
The public is invited; appointments are not necessary.
According to the Head and Neck Cancer Alliance, a new case of oral, head and neck cancer is diagnosed every ten minutes, and someone dies from this disease every forty-five minutes. More than half of all of these cancers are very advanced by the time the patient visits a doctor. These free screenings will help residents identify areas of concern and medically trained staff will make follow-up recommendations. There will be no diagnosis given at the time of the screening.
