The Landings and the Ledger-Enquirer are giving you the opportunity to celebrate the arrival of fall with our first ever Scarecrow Contest. This contest is open to all ages and all skill levels, including a professional division.
The best part – no entry fee if you submit your application by October 1.
You may decorate your scarecrow however you like, but be creative and please keep them fun.
Scarecrows MUST be handmade and not purchased.
A winning scarecrow will be chosen for each category, in each division. In addition, the public will have the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Award. Votes are $1 each ($5 minimum) and all proceeds will go to the Children’s Miracle Network.
Entry forms need to be completed and returned to Ledger-Enquirer (17 West 12th Street – Columbus, Georgia 31902 – ATTN: Scarecrow Contest), faxed to 706.576.6250 or e-mailed to [email protected] no later than 4 p.m. on October 1. Entry forms received after that date will require a $20 fee.
Scarecrows can be dropped off Thursday, October 14 from 4 pm – 7 pm or on Friday, October 15 from 8am – 4pm at The Landings. Participants are responsible for installation of Scarecrow with the assistance of Landing’s employee. Deadline to receive scarecrows is Friday October 15, at 4 p.m.

Best Classroom Award:
Best Classroom will win ice cream party from Baskin Robbins at their school. Each classroom participant will get a certificate from The Landings, thanking them for their participation. * Each participant for the 11 & under category will receive a participant ribbon.

October 14 – *Drop off scarecrows from 4 pm – 7 pm at The Landings.
October 15 – *Drop off scarecrows from 8am – 4pm at The Landings
October 16-31 – Scarecrows on display
October 23 – Judging begins at 10 a.m. Winners announced at noon.
