If there is a child with Down Syndrome in your life or you are expecting one, check out the Chattahoochee Valley Down Syndrome Association.
The Chattahoochee Valley Down Syndrome Association serves to enhance the lives of all individuals with Down syndrome by providing information and support to the individuals, their families and the professionals working with them. Our group educates the community to promote acceptance, respect, and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome.
CVDSA was formed in 2002 as a 501(c)3 organization by a group of parents within the Columbus, Georgia area. It has grown from a parent support group into a community resource for families and professionals within the Down syndrome community.
Currently, 90 percent of expecting parents that find out their unborn child has Down Syndrome choose to terminate the pregnancy. But having a child with cognitive challenges isn’t the end of the world. People with Downs Syndrome are capable of so much and lead full, happy and quality lives.
