Calling all experienced, young actors!! The Family Theatre is looking for actors interested in their Summer Youth Studio.
June 4 @ 6pm – Auditions for roles
June 18-22 – Camp dates
June 22,23, 29 and 30 – Performance dates
This summer the Family Theatre will be doing a quirky story of ninja princesses-in-training who must rescue Prince-Not-So-Charming, a dude in distress. With such colorful characters as Princess Moonflower, Princess Milkweed, and the ever-so-sweet bless-her-little-heart Princess Magnolia, you won’t want to miss this story of their adventures in F.I.N.I.S.H.I.N.G. school.
There are parts for 6 guys and 10 girls. This is an advanced camp for experienced actors. You MUST be 12 or older and have mainstage experience in order to apply for this camp. Audition time for roles will be announced soon.
Camp fee is $125. A deposit of $20 must be made to secure a spot in the camp, and the application can be found on the website, familytheatre.org. The balance is due the first day of camp.
A few things to keep in mind:
- We will hold auditions June 4 at 6 p.m. for the purpose of assigning roles. If you are accepted in the camp, you will be in the show. The auditions will be just to know who plays what. You must prepare a one-minute monologue for the audition, and you will also be expected to do a cold reading from the script. We will have some games and activities that will help us to see your level of fearlessness and freedom onstage.
- You will get the script a week before the camp so that you can already be working on your lines.
- We will have an evening stage-combat training the week before the show. Maybe both. Elisabeth Hilton will be choreographing the stage combat.
- This camp will be fun, but it will be hard work. We are putting on a real performance for a real audience– actually four of them. And charging admission. So while we hope to have fun in our camp, it is not the main purpose of the camp. The main purpose is to put on a quality performance with experienced actors. It is really a mainstage quality show, with 6 weeks of rehearsal condensed into 5 days.
