Introduce your children to the world of aviation and science by taking them to meet members of the Tuskegee Airmen at Roosevelt’s Little White House Historic Site.
Saturday, Feb 6, 2010 10 a.m – 2 p.m.
Who were the Tuskegee Airmen? They were dedicated, determined young men who, from 1941-1949, enlisted to become America’s first black military airmen. Most were college graduates or undergraduates. Those who became pilots were trained at Tuskegee Army Air Field (TAAF) in Tuskegee, Alabama.
These men are famous not only for their outstanding record during World War II, but also for paving the way for integration of the U.S. armed services at a time when many people thought that black men lacked intelligence, skill, courage and patriotism.
Bring your camera and meet these famous veterans during this educational program. (They will take a break from noon until 1 p.m.)
Cost: $5-$8.
