Come celebrate the Fourth of July at Florence Marina State Park!
Saturday, July 2, 2011 until Monday, July 4, 2011
10 AM to 4 PM
Spend the weekend participating games, crafts for kids and boat rides along the river.
Located just ten miles northwest of Providence Canyon, this quiet, 173-acre park offers the perfect setting for lovers of water sports. It is adjacent to a natural deep-water marina with an accessible deep-water fishing pier, boat slips and boat ramp. Birders are sure to see herons and egrets, and possibly bald eagles.
The park’s Kirbo Interpretive Center teaches visitors about Native Americans, nature and local history, and it displays snakes, turtles, fish and artifacts from the prehistoric Paleo-Indian period through the early 20th century. Tours of the undisturbed Rood Creek Indian Mounds and Fort McCreary are also available.
Cost: $1 – $5 plus $5 parking. 229-838-4706.
