Kids love to create things and watch them grow! Try this cute grass caterpillar craft for your garden!
Supplies for Garden Grass Caterpillar Craft:
- Knee high pantyhose
- Potting soil
- Grass seed
- Pipe cleaners
- Googly eyes (large)
- Pom-Poms (large)
- Hot glue gun & glue sticks
Directions:
First, fill the knee-high pantyhose with potting soil. Work the soil down into the stocking, so it is packed pretty tightly. Leave enough room to tie the end of your hose. Place your tied stockings on a tray for support and get ready to plant.
Take a sharp knife and cut slits in the top of the stockings.
Sprinkle the grass seed mix right on top and work them into the soil gently with your fingers. Gave it a bit of water and let the grass grow about 7-9 days before decorating.
Once your grass has grown in, hot glue the googly eye directly onto a big pom-pom. Then hot glued the pom-pom eyes to each grass caterpillar. Cut the pipe cleaners in quarters for the legs and in half for the antenna. Finally, simply bend and push the pipe cleaners right into the dirt. Insanely cute!
