GA Aquarium Sneak Peek Media Event & 10th Anniversary Celebration
#GASeaLionPremier
#GADolphinPresentation
Charlotte and Katie were excited to be invited by the Georgia Aquarium to preview the aquarium’s newest exhibits (opening March 31st) and to celebrate its 10th Anniversary. The aquarium is a favorite destination for our respective families, so Katie and I left our children in the care of our respective husbands and drove to Atlanta for a lovely evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and excellent aquatic entertainment.
New Sea Lions Gallery
The new $40 million SunTrust Pier 225 gallery and presentation was worth the trip! These whiskered, eared seals and their acrobatic skills were a real crowd pleaser — earning multiple laughs and applause from the audience.
The show features all rescued sea lions, including pups Jupiter and Neptune — two survivors of California’s recent “unusual mortality event”. It’s wonderful to know that these amazing creatures have found a new home here in Georgia.
NEW AT&T Dolphin Celebration Show
Our favorite creatures — by far — are dolphins. We were thrilled to have the chance to preview the new At&T Dolphin Celebration experience. This show is fun, educational and high-energy. It showcases dolphin behavior and the relationship between the dolphins and their trainers.
Katie and I agreed. The new music (a mashup of dance favorites) and new choreography are sure to make a splash with audiences of all ages.
A word of caution, parents! The first 12 rows are called the “soak zone” for a reason. Sit there and you’re sure to get wet!
Newly renovated 4D Theatre
We watched a 15-minute adaptation of Happy Feet in the newly renovated 4D theatre. The 240-seat theater just received a major overhaul, including new interactive seats, a state-of-the-art sound system, and additional special effects like more bubbles, scents, ticklers, and the rare weather phenomena — snow!
Starting March 31, the theatre will incorporate an interactive pre-show. Best of all, theater admission is complimentary with Georgia Aquarium general admission. Did I mention it had snow?
