Gifts for Every Dad
Guest blog by Alexa Anderson
Just a few generations ago being a dad meant going to work, earning enough money to support the household, coming home to a wife and patting his precious children on their angel heads.
Fast forward to the present and things have changed quite a bit. Men have become full-time, actively engaged parents. So, shouldn’t we try and make their Father’s Day as special as they are? Here are some ideas for every kind of dad out there:
The Financial Provider
Dads have traditionally been the breadwinners and for those of you whose guy is still bringing home the bacon for his family, you can honor him with a bacon-of-the-month club. At baconfreak.com there are several options available, including gluten-free, for whatever his bacon-loving heart desires.
The Bath Giver
Dads make bath-time an adventure. Kids know that when dads take the helm, bubbles are a requirement and more time is spent sloshing water around than scrubbing their armpits or behind their ears. But dads deserve some special treatment, too! Guys might not want to admit it, but I bet they want to soak in the tub and let some Calgon take them away. Bath and Body Works has several luxury bath products that will help the dad in your life relax without smelling like a sissy. One of my particular favorites is Stress Relief Eucalyptus Spearmint.
The Cheerleader
Dads are kids’ loudest advocates and cheerleaders. When kids get down, we depend on the dad to give the pep talk of the century. If that sounds familiar, you need to get this dad a custom t-shirt that shouts his pride. You can order custom t-shirts at websites like customink.com. Wearing a proclamation of dad’s fandom shows how cool he is with being head-over-heels in love with his kids. Or maybe the kids should wear the awesome t-shirt! Or how about a family set?
The Coach
Not only are dads a solid cheerleader for their children, they are also coaches, whether on the playing field or the field of life. For these dads, think about getting tickets to an event that dad can enjoy with the kids. Watching a dad and his child(ren) enjoy a sporting event together is something that will warm your heart. Creating memories is precious. You can find some great deals to a Braves game right here.
The Playmate
Dads are fun and know how to play with all the kids. For the kid waiting to get out, you can help your kids get the dad in their life some games that the family can enjoy. Ladder ball, badminton, wiffle ball, croquet, bocce ball and cornhole are all games that families can enjoy and you can find these games at most retailers, including Target (my personal happy place).
The Cook
Let’s not forget those dads that feed their families with gusto and love. Whether this guy is grilling or baking some cupcakes for the school bake sale, he deserves some love. Etsy.com is a great resource to find something perfect, such as a manly apron, or the cutting board he’s always wanted. Check out below for some Etsy finds:
Happy Father’s Day out there to all kinds!
