Counting Down Christmas — Minecraft Style!
One of my boys’ favorite holiday traditions is to countdown the days to Christmas with an Advent calendar. When they were toddlers, I used a wall-mounted, wool felt calendar to help them get through the days leading up to Christmas. I still hang it in the kitchen every December.
As they have grown they prefer a more interactive calendar — like the LEGO® Star Wars™ Advent Calendar, with 24 gifts including exclusive mini-figures, starships and more.
This year’s Advent Calendar is their favorite so far! I purchased 24 Minecraft Mini-Figure Mystery Blind Boxes and put them in a gift bag. These mini-figures are addicting like the rest of the toys, but a tad high in price (around $3.99 a box). You can offset the cost by grabbing a box or two every time you shop where Minecraft toys are sold. The cheapest I found were on Amazon for $2.97 each. Still, I’m glad I had a gift card!
My favorites so far are the painted sheep and the cute green Creeper. Until the makers of Minecraft sell an official Minecraft Advent calendar, the Mystery Boxes will do.
