HOPE Foster Care
Did you know there are over 15,000 children in foster care in Georgia? You can make a difference in the life of a child by becoming a foster parent. The Methodist Home recently relaunched its private, faith-based foster care program, HOPE Foster Care. The purpose of the program is to answer our community’s need for more quality foster families to care for vulnerable children.
The number of children in foster care is soaring in the Chattahoochee Valley, and there are not nearly enough foster families’ available. According to Alyssa Barrow, Resource Developer for HOPE Foster Care, there are over 15,000 kids in foster care in Georgia and here in Muscogee County, there are around 450 kids in foster care.
The Methodist Home’s HOPE Foster Care ministry is looking for families who are able to welcome foster children, ages birth to 18, into their homes where they can heal from their losses.
Foster families go through extensive training to prepare physically, spiritually and mentally for what to expect. Prospective foster parents will learn about the effects of trauma and how to support biological parents throughout the reunification process.
