Navigate through every aspect of nature with a variety of programs specially crafted for the enjoyment of your family! Programs recommended for ALL AGES! Class size is limited to 25 participants. Registration is due by COB the day prior to each event!

June 19, 2014 – Wildlife Detectives | 10-11am
Come solve a mystery critter case with us! Be prepared for a variety of weather; bring sunscreen, bug spray, and a water bottle.
June 19, 2014 – Leave No Trace | 1:30-2:30pm
Oxbow Meadows is proud to partner with Outside World Outfitters Columbus to present a “Leave No Trace” workshop. This workshop teaches individuals how to enjoy the outdoors responsibly. In this class, you will learn how to put Leave No Trace into action on your next camping, hiking, or whitewater adventure!
June 21, 2014 – Raptor Release | 11am-Noon
Join Oxbow Meadows for a program on different raptors native to the area culminating in the release of some very special guests!
June 26, 2014 – Turtles and Tortoises | 1:30-2:30 pm
Did you know that there are over 27 different species of turtles in Georgia? Get a closer look at these turtles and tortoises during this fun summer program. Turtle craft included!
June 26, 2014 – Guided Trail Hike | 10-11am
We will guide you through our trails exploring wetlands and a changing landscape. Come prepared for a variety of weather; bring sunscreen, bug spray, and a water bottle.
June 28, 2014 – So, You Want a Pet Reptile | 11am-Noon
Do you have questions about how to take care of a reptile or amphibian? This is the program for you! Join Oxbow Meadows for an in-depth look into the care of different reptiles and amphibians.
July 8, 2014 – Butterflies and Caterpillars | 10-11am
Learn how caterpillars become butterflies, their importance, their defense mechanisms, and how they use their five senses. Participants will go outside (weather permitting) to catch and identify different insects.
July 8, 2014 Tie-Dye | 1:30-2:30pm
We’re using all the colors of the rainbow to make tie-dye t-shirts! (Note: Admission for this event is $10 per person (includes fabric) | only $5 if you bring your own t-shirt!)
July 10, 2014 – Let’s Go Birding | 10-11am
Birds are everywhere – in the trees, in the sky, and on the ground. Ever wondered what type of bird was in your backyard? Join a member of the Columbus Audubon Society and learn about native bird species, migrating birds, and tips for birding in the area. Come prepared for a variety of weather; bring sunscreen, bug spray, and a water bottle. Binocular rental included.
July 10, 2014 – Newts and Salamanders | 1:30-2:30 p.m
Get a closer look at the newts and salamanders at Oxbow during this fun summer program. Amphibian craft included!
July 17, 2014 – River Rangers | 10-11am
Ever heard of a river table? Join us in this program to learn about water, ways to keep it clean, and ways to conserve it. Come prepared to have some fun in the sun; bring sunscreen, bug spray, and a water bottle!
July 17, 2014 – Farm Charm: Green Gardens | 1:30-2:30pm
Is your garden green enough? Learn about soil, water, pest control, and lawn gardening in this program with guest speaker, Jennifer Davidson, the County Coordinator and Ag and Natural Resource Agent.
July 19, 2014 – Farm Charm: All About Compost | 11am-Noon
Can you compost in your own backyard? Join Oxbow Meadows and guest speaker, Tina Armistead, a Master Gardener who specializes in compost, for this informative and hands-on program.
