Recently, Charlotte and Katie had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of Painting with a Twist – a new art studio in Columbus, GA.
Painting with a Twist is a place where you and friends can come together to paint, drink wine and unleash your inner Van Gogh with the help of local artists. You don’t need to be Bo Bartlett to create a masterpiece of your own. The studio provides the canvas, paint, brushes, instructions and everything else needed to recreate one of our masterpieces.

Honestly, I’m more of a “paint-by-numbers” girl. A preschooler could draw a better landscape than me. So when I saw the featured painting on the easel, I wasn’t very confident in the outcome of my efforts.
After the ribbon cutting ceremony and open house, we donned aprons and made our way to the studio for our group lesson. The studio was beautiful. The room was large and well lit by a panorama of windows. Several long tables were set up with easels, blank canvases and paper palettes of paint. We found our assigned seats and nervously waited for the lesson to begin.
Our instructor was warm and welcoming. She encouraged us to relax and have fun. As she walked us step-by-step through the process and cheered us on, her helpers – six honest-to-goodness artists – moved around the room to help “fix” any mistakes with simple instructions.
With a little paint, a little wine and a lot of laughter, we did our best. And while we won’t be quitting our day jobs, a good time was had by all.

Hours of Operation: Monday – Saturday – 11am to 9pm; Sunday – 2pm to 6pm
Admission: $25 – $45 per seat. Paying online or via phone is required to guarantee your reservation.
Age Policy: Must be at least 7 years of age to paint. Guests must be at least 21 years old with proper photo ID to consume alcohol. Guests under 18 are welcome for “All Ages” classes.
