PCAC Children’s Summer Art Program

24, 26, 27 and 28 June, 2013 @ 10 am – Noon

(no class on Tuesday 25 June 2013)
 

Note: Time may run a little longer on 28 June to accommodate an art show and awards presentation.

The four classes are:

Day 1

Basic color wheel, primary colors, and color mixing to create new colors. Identification of warm colors and cool colors. Care and cleaning of art brushes and supplies. Complete paintings on printed paper (one warm colors, and one cool colors). Students will be using Acrylic paints.

Day 2

Basic painting brush strokes and understanding light, depth, and shadows. Each child will follow along with the teacher in painting and complete an 8”X10 “painting on canvas.

Day 3

Each child will paint along with the teacher to create another 8X10 canvas painting.

Day 4

Each child will create a free-style painting. Each child will select their favorite canvas painting for framing and entry in the Art Show. Small tokens will be awarded for a variety of painting accomplishments, e.g., best use of colors, best brush strokes, best color mixing, etc.

More information:

Location: The Phenix City Art Center Building is located on Airport Road, across from the covered pavilion at Moon Lake. We are near the Tennis Courts in the old Airport Building.

Cost: $20.00 total per child ( includes all 4 sessions). Children must be rising 2nd through 6th graders. The cost of the class covers all costs for art supplies. No food is allowed in the art class and each child should bring a large shirt to wear over their clothing for protection from paint spills, etc.

Enrollment limitations: Only the first 20 students can be accepted. Advance payment must be made at the Art Center, Sunday 23 June 2013 between the hours of 2:00-4:00 pm. Remember to call first to secure your child’s place in the class.

How to Enroll: Call one of the following individuals to enroll your child. Calls should be made NLT 18 June 2013. Enrollment is pending until confirmed by payment on 23 June. Please call one of the following:
