The 13th Annual Plains Peanut Festival
September 26-27, 2009
The annual Plains Peanut Festival is centered around one of the Sumter County community’s claims to fame, its peanut production, and features the community’s most famous residents in active roles. Both President and Mrs. Carter will be in town for the festivities.
Saturday, September 26
8:00 a.m. – One Mile Fun Run / 5K Road Race
9:00 a.m. – Arts & Crafts Vendors
11:00 a.m. – Main Street Parade
1:30 p.m. – President Carter’s Book signing
1:30 p.m. – Mrs. Carter’s Book signing
12:00 | 1:00 | 2:00 p.m. – SAM Shortline Train Rides
7:00 p.m. – Folk Play: “If These Sidewalks Could Talk”.
8:30 p.m. – Street Dance (Free)
Sunday, September 27
10 a.m. – Attend Sunday school with President Carter at Maranatha Baptist Church
