If you like eating raw, prepackaged cookie dough, think twice!
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are warning consumers not to eat any varieties of prepackaged NESTLÉ Toll House refrigerated cookie dough due to the risk of contamination with E. coli O157:H7 (a bacterium that causes food borne illness).
As of Thursday, June 25, 2009, 69 persons in 29 states have been infected.
NESTLÉ USA’s Baking Division has initiated a voluntary recall of all NESTLÉ Toll House refrigerated cookie dough products. Consumers who have purchased cookie dough products are asked to return these products to their local grocer for a full refund. If you have any questions, contact NESTLÉ Consumer Services at 1-800-559-5025 and visit their web site at www.verybestbaking.com.
