Redefining success: What makes me thrive
I’m not big on making New Years Resolutions. But one thing I do every year is to set goals for Muscogee Moms. Like every business owner, I want this website to be successful. And I have a clear vision of the outcomes I want to achieve — increased traffic, increased revenue, decreased expenses, etc.
But there is one outcome that trumps them all.
What keeps me going and makes me thrive is the satisfaction I get from knowing that in some small way Muscogee Moms is helping parents make wonderful family memories with their kids.
I cannot express how gratifying it is to hear from our fans, whether they are long-term residents or just passing through.
I’ll never forget the email we received recently from a worried mom whose daughter was moving to Columbus to attend Columbus State University. This mom was unfamiliar with the area and needed a recommendation for a safe place for her student to live. We posted her question on our Facebook wall, and wow! Our fans responded with dozens of recommendations. Several months later, this mom contacted us again. This time her daughter was having car trouble and needed to find a reliable mechanic so she could drive home for the holidays. Again, I was blown away by the responses from our Facebook fans.
Our target audience may be moms with young children. But I’m amazed by the diversity of our actual audience. You come from all walks of life and socio-economic backgrounds. You have different political views and religious background. But the one thing you have in common is your love for your kids.
To know that Muscogee Moms is playing a small role in making Columbus feel like home — that we are making your stay here a little bit easier and helping you find fun things to do with your kids — makes the effort to maintain this website truly worthwhile.
This sense of community is truly the greatest measurement of success for me. And all I can say is thank you for being our fans. We love being part of your lives!
Best wishes,
Charlotte
