Week 1 of the Ride for Miracles
The 2013 Ride for Miracles is underway. Scott Ressmeyer and 11 other Miracle Riders are riding through all 48 lower states in 21 days to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network at The Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia. This is the fifth year that Scott has taken this journey, and in only the first four years Scott’s Ride for Miracles has raised over $430,000 for Children’s Miracle Network! Ultimately, Scott and the Miracle Riders have pledged to raise $1 million over the course of the ride’s span.
On Monday (May 6th) the Riders stopped in Joplin, Missouri, where Rider Ronnie Wilson met a little girl Robyn. Robyn gave Ronnie a Children’s Miracle Network balloon pin and he gave her one of the Scott’s Ride badges. Robyn has had two open heart surgeries and several on her hands.
On Tuesday (May 7th) the riders visited the HBSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas, a Children’s Miracle Network hospital. They spent some time with the little patients.
By Thursday (May 9th) they were cruising through the mountains of Utah. This was the first time some of the Riders have seen this part of the country.
By the time Friday night (May 10th) rolled around, Scott’s Miracle Riders had logged 3,474 miles on their motorcycles. They have covered the gulf states, the plains, the southwest and California. The riders stopped for the night on Friday night in Klamath, Oregon.
Their weekend journey will take them through Washington and Montana—there is a lot of ground to cover in those big states! They hope to stop Sunday night in Helena, Montana and cover the upper Midwest in the first part of the week. You can follow along with their journey at www.rideformiracles.com.
