Spring in the south is one of our favorite seasons of the year. We love getting outside and enjoying the fresh air, flowers and, of course, festivals. Here is a list of our favorite spring festivals in Alabama.
Baldwin County Strawberry Festival
April 9-10, 2016 (2nd weekend in April)
Loxley, Alabama
The Baldwin County Strawberry Festival is a much-anticipated local tradition held annually at Loxley Municipal Park. The festival featuresover 180 arts and craft exhibitors, a dozen different food vendors, carnival, children’s games, an antique auto show, exhibits and live music. And, of course, strawberry shortcake! Hours: 9am – 5pm

Auburn CityFest is held on the last Saturday in April each year at Kiesel Park in Auburn, AL. CityFest is Auburn’s largest, FREE, outdoor festival featuring live music, children’s activities, arts and crafts and fine arts exhibitors, food, non-profit booths, and much more. Hours: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Chunnenuggee Fair

The Chunnenuggee Fair is an annual juried Arts and Crafts Fair sponsored by the Bullock County Historical Society. Come enjoy arts and crafts booths, a Fine Art show, live entertainment, children’s game areas, food court, and cake sale.
Rhododendron Festival
May 21-22, 2016
Mentone, Alabama
The Rhododendron Festival features artists and craftsmen displaying their handcrafted wares and live entertainment.Local musicians, arts of all mediums, horse drawn carriage rides, a children’s festival with rides, games and activities, ponies, sidewalk chalk art contest, a cow train, and a “Taste of Mentone” are some of the things you can expect for this year’s festival. The lake on Little River above DeSoto Falls is a wonderful place from which to view the rhododendron and mountain laurel blooms. There is a good variety of food for sale by several vendors.
Alabama Jubilee Hot Air Balloon Classic

Showcasing more than 60 inflated hot air balloons, the free Alabama Jubilee Hot Air Balloon Classic main attractions include the Balloon Glow event at night and all sorts of very different hot air balloon flights during the day including tethered balloon rides before dusk, live entertainment, food and the ever popular Alabama Jubilee Fireworks Spectacular. Visitors to this free event can also enjoy a tractor parade, a pedal tractor pull and all sorts of tractor demonstrations.
