New obstetrical unit to open Labor Day 2013
St Francis Hospital has received a final certificate of need approval from the State of Georgia. The hospital’s new state-of-the-art obstetrical unit is slated to open on Labor Day 2013.
According to Robert Granger, St Francis’ president and CEO, Columbus and Muscogee County have one of the highest rates of infant mortality and low birth weight babies in the nation. By opening a new perinatal unit, the Hospital will be helping combat those statistics.
The new obstetrical unit will be housed in the Hosptial’s new clinical tower. An adjacent medical office building will house a Women’s Center of Excellence, consolidating all women’s services–gynecologic, obstetrical, breast health, and others–into one convenient location.
