That Man is You! Returns to St. Anne Catholic Church
Becoming a man after God’s own heart
Columbus, Ga., September 11, 2013 – Men, set your alarm clocks! The second year of That Man Is You!, an interactive, multimedia men’s program focused upon the development of authentic male leadership, is underway at St. Anne Catholic Church.
Over the course of three years, That Man is You! successively considers men in their relationship to God, to their spouse and to their children. The program content harmonizes current social and medical science with the teachings of the Catholic Church and the wisdom of the saints to develop the vision of man fully alive. It is particularly indebted to the teachings of the Second Vatican Council and Pope John Paul II.
“It’s a program that was developed seven years ago by a guy named Steve Bollman from St. Cecilia Catholic Community in Houston, Texas,” says St. Anne Church That Man Is You! Coordinator Brian Sillitto. “Steve pitched it to his own parish and they told him no one would come. They were wrong. He built a group like ours, and then worked to spread it to other parishes. Today, there are 400 parishes in 40 states with more than 15,000 men taking part with many, many parish priests and bishops endorsing the program.”
That Man Is You! meets Wednesdays, from 6 to 7:30 a.m., in St. Anne Catholic Church’s Visitation Hall.
During its first year, week after week, 45 to 55 men attended the That Man Is You! meetings at St. Anne Church. This high attendance rate at such an early hour is a testament to the program.
“This is a unique program that focuses on where we as men are in our lives today, in the midst of this culture and this society,” Sillitto said. “That Man is You! is designed to help us guys better understand ourselves, our wives and marriages, and our role as authentic leaders in our homes and at work. It’s all about a personal encounter with Jesus Christ, who wants to take you wherever you are right now in your life and take you further.”
