Every year, my parents cultivated a large garden and orchard. I helped to weed, water, harvest, can and preserve fresh fruits and vegetables. There was enough produce to share with friends and neighbors.
But despite all this, I inherited a black thumb. My husband jokes that plants come to our house to die. (It’s true!) Not to mention that we have a minuscule yard and no space to carry on the family tradition.
