The Literacy Alliance wants to help Muscogee County Pre-K students with the fundamentals of reading, but they need volunteers to get it done. Studies have shown reading to children helps them learn to read.
The Literacy Alliance needs 120 volunteers to change the lives of dozens of children in the district by giving one hour, one morning a week for eight weeks to read to students in one of six participating schools. There is an assortment of books to choose from like Silly Sally, One Duck Stuck or even The Kissing Hand.
If you’re interested in volunteering one hour a week for eight weeks, call the Literacy Alliance at 706-748-2610.
The first session begins January 22 and runs until March 22. The other two sessions are February 11 through April 19 and February 19 through April 26.
