Andy Warhol once told an interviewer, “If you want to know all about Andy Warhol just look at the surface of my paintings and films and me, and there I am. There’s nothing behind it.”
Michele McCrillis, Associate Professor of Art History at Columbus State University, will discuss the calculated air of detachment in both Warhol’s process and subject matter, including his use of serial repetition in silkscreens depicting coke bottles, Elvis, and the Mona Lisa.
