Make some tracks and join the Flint RiverQuarium Saturday, September 27, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., for a celebration of all creatures great and small at the Water, Wings and Wildlife Festival. Whether wet and scaly, feathered, slimy or furry, we want to celebrate all of the amazing wild animals that fill our beautiful world. You can enjoy birds of prey and reptile shows, fish in our fountain, take a SCUBA lesson in our Blue Hole and learn more about Planet Earth from some friendly puppets! Regular admission rates apply. Wild Wings Birds of Prey ShowPresenter: Winged Ambassadors Cost: Free with Admission Where: RiverQuarium Plaza In fulfillment of a life-long dream shared by two very close friends, Dale Arrowood and Ed Carswell, Winged Ambassadors was founded with a mission to promote environmental conservation, specifically protection for the wildlife that we share the earth with, through a uniquely designed program of education. Programs featuring some of the very Birds of Prey responsible for long ago capturing the fascinations of those two friends have now provided thousands of people in many different communities the rare and exhilarating opportunity of coming face-to-face with these breathtaking animals as they learn more about them and the complex, important roles they play in supporting the geographical ecosystems on which we all rely. |

Planet Earth, Inc. Puppet ShowPresenter: Lee Bryan “That Puppet Guy” Cost: Free with Admission Where: Flint River Room Atlanta-based puppeteer, Lee Bryan or “That Puppet Guy‚” is a nationally recognized touring artist who combines live vocal characterizations and songs with innovative puppet designs for wholesome family entertainment. Constantly seeking to educate his audiences in the art of puppetry, Lee’s original stories and clever adaptations of classic tales often incorporate multiple styles of puppets which are demonstrated in his very popular behind-the-scenes demonstration following each solo performance. |

Cold Blooded Reptile ShowPresenter: Chehaw Cost: Free with Admission Where: Imagination Theater Chehaw’s expert staff will provide a unique opportunity to “get up close and personal” to some of their park animals. These out of the ordinary experiences should make an impression with adults and children of all ages. This should be a very WILD and entertaining program! |

Fishing in the FountainPresenter: Georgia Department of Natural Resources Times: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Cost: Free with Admission Where: Flint RiverQuarium’s outdoor fountain There is something “fishy” going on out in the fountain. Your little angler can have big fun and get “hooked” on hand-eye coordination skills involving casting, throwing and targeting live catfish. Very knowledgeable fisheries biologists will be present to show your child the ropes on this National Hunting and Fishing Day. You’re guaranteed to have a “reel” good time. |

Zoo in SpacePresenter: Jim Friese Cost: Free with Admission Where: Thronateeska Heritage Center’s Wetherbee Planetarium Join Thronateeska Heritage Center’s staff Astronomer, Jim Friese. He will lead you through the night sky by talking about animal stars we have in space and their stories from Greek and Roman Mythology. Learn about constellations and how they are expressed in different cultures under the sky in the planetarium. |

Discover SCUBAPresenter: Adventure Dive Center Cost: $20 per person + Admission Where: RiverQuarium Flint River Room Have you always wanted to know what it would be like to dive and see underwater creatures in a different light, but you have never been ready to take the plunge? Discover SCUBA is for you! Come on in our Blue Hole with our expert SCUBA certified professionals. They will guide you through the basic training skills, safety and equipment requirements that are necessary for a certification. You will not receive an actual SCUBA certification with this course. |

Fly FishingPresenter: Orvis Times: Ongoing, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Cost: Free with Admission Where: Riverfront Trail Flint River edge With a good fly cast, anyone can begin to fish! Todd Rogers with Orvis will demonstrate various fly fishing techniques. There will be opportunities to learn about, try gear and practice casting. This is a good time for beginners to get a taste of fly fishing. Who knows, maybe you will take the “bait” and want to become a master of this craft. You can also sign up for an introductory class that will be held at a later date sometime in spring 2014. |
