JUNIOR PROGRAM
Happy Sun Fun Time with Cheryl Mullis
This is a fun introductory acting class for new students looking for their first experience in Theatre using voice, body & imagination based exercises and games. Returning students continue the fun they had this summer with story theatre, pantomime, improv and more!

Musical Theatre with Dontay Scott
Grades 5-7 at 9 – 10:30 AM
Grades 3-4 at 10:45 AM – 12:45 PM
This Musical Theatre class combines popular musical theatre numbers with basic voice and body work, character exploration, storytelling and games! Sure to build confidence, presence, imagination and knowledge of theatre and music!

Jimprovisation with Jim Pharr
Grades 3-4 at 9 – 10:30 AM
Grades 5-7 at 12:30 – 2 PM
Who says you need a script to create a scene? Explore imagination and partner work in a fun and creative environment that prepares you for acting without a script! Learn how to make bold choices, be a great scene partner and think on your feet. Taught through exciting games and instructive exercises, Improv is fun for all ages!

Acting Out with Jessica Hill
Grades 3-4 at 12:30 – 2 PM
Grades 5-7 at 10:45 AM – 12:15 PM
For new and returning students! This class will cover the fundamentals of acting: body, voice and imagination and go more in depth into acting techniques and tips. Students will explore monologues and scene work. For our older students, this class will focus on audition preparation and performance.

Advanced Acting (Tuna Style) with Ron Anderson
Grades 8-12 at 12:30 – 2 PM
You’ve seen Mr. Ron do that amazing Tuna thing, where he plays 11 different characters in the same show, each character with a distinct posture, carriage, voice, rhythm and intention. How does he do that? Take this class and find out. Students will utilize mime, body & vocal manipulation, focus dynamics, rhythm variation, and extreme silliness in monologues and scenes to achieve distinctive characterization. Hilarious and serious at the same time. Tuna Acting.

Stilt Walking with Ron Anderson
Grades 5-9 at 9 – 10:30 AM
Back by popular demand! Did you miss your chance to be tall and friendly this fall? A very fun and very safe way to learn to walk on stilts. Gain confidence, improve balance and coordination and qualify for the Springer Stilt Walking Team!

Stilt Making with Ron Anderson
Grades 6-12 at 10:45 AM – 12:15 PM
You’ve walked on them, you’ve gawked at them. Now you can have your very own! Build and paint your very own stilts to wear at stilt walking events, family gatherings or just idling at home on a Tuesday afternoon! Be tall! Be awesome! Own your own stilts! (Extra fee for supply kit)

Puppet Making with Avery Jones
Grades 5-7 at 10:45 AM – 12:15 PM
Puppetry can be a big part of telling a story onstage. Now, you can have your own puppet! Taught by skilled Puppeteer, Avery Jones, this class will teach students how to construct and build their very own puppet. Fraggle Rock will be jealous! (Extra fee for supply kit)

Hat Making with Lindsay Schmeling
Grades 8-12 at 120:30 – 2 PM
Learn about the various types of hats and theatre haberdashery while you custom build your own hat! Cowboy Hats! Top Hats! Porkpie Hats! Pirate Hats! Bowler Hats! Pilgrim Hats! Toque Hats! Tricorne Hats! Dunce Caps! Fedoras! Barets! Even make a Fez! The sky’s the limit! (Extra fee for supply kit)

Set Design 101 with Aileen Fowles
Grades 7-12 at 10:45 AM – 12:15 PM
Springer sets can be highly detailed (A Christmas Carol), highly suggestive (Big Friendly Giant), very realistic (A Raisin in the Sun) or very imaginative (Pinkalicious.) But they all start with a script and a director’s vision. Then the designer takes over. Students will read a short play and learn the traditional steps of set design from script to concept to research to renderings to drawings to white model (everything needed to prepare the set for construction.) But each student will be given a different director’s vision – all with the same play!

Parkour with Columbus Parkour
Grades 5-7 at 9 – 10:30 AM and Grades 8-12 at 10:45 AM – 12:315 PM
Parkour is back again! 5th-12th graders will continue to learn the basics of this fun, active and intense movement style gaining more confidence and strength as they go! Be ready for more flips, twists and jumps! Parkour is sure to get the body moving and the heart pumping!

Costume Design 101 with Lindsay Schmeling
Grades 7-12 at 10:45 AM – 12:15 PM
Walk the line between fashion and costume design. Learn about the design process and how costumes can really make a character and bring it to life. Taught by the Springer’s talented costume designer, Lindsay Schmeling.

Propapalooza with Dona Pierce
Grades 8-12 at 9 – 10:35 AM
A snozzcumber, a giant crayon, a UFO, dream jars, huge cupcakes, a talking plant, glop that sticks to your face, Styrofoam sheep – these are Props. A prop is anything an actor carries on stage (except another actor.) Springer resident props designer Dona Pierce is a genius at envisioning and building the props that we use in all of our shows. Take this class and learn how she does it. Experiment with fur, foam, wood, plastic, icky gel, glue, epoxy, cement, lava (not really) and various unknown substances. It doesn’t have to be real – it only has to look real.

• Payment: $25 deposit (non-refundable) is required with registration. New student fee (one time only) is $10. Full payment is due on the first day of class.
• Discounts: $15 OFF for each Additional registered child in a family.
• Registration Deadlines: May register up to the start of class provided there are still spaces available.
• New Students: New students receive a free Theatre Academy t-shirt the first day of class.
• Confirmation: Once your registration is received and processed, you will receive a confirmation letter and billing statement in the mail.
