On Friday, Jan 14, 2011, WTMV.com reported that a Columbus family is searching for their missing 12-year-old girl.
Fabiola Morales disappeared Wednesday night from her grandmother’s home located at 4931 11th Avenue. The mother told police her daughter went to bed Wednesday night and when her grandmother went to get her ready for school Thursday morning, Fabiola was gone.
Fabiola attends Arnold Middle School. She is in the 7th grade. She’s described as a Hispanic female, stands 5’3″ tall, weighing 110 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. She is believed to be in a gold or champagne colored 1998-2001 Chrysler Sebring. She is believed to be with a Hispanic male.
On Saturday, Jan 15, 2011, WLTZ.com reported that the Amber Alert for the missing teen had been canceled.
On Sunday, Jan 16, 2011, UPI.com provided more information on the story, including a statement that authorities believed the girl and her kidnapper to be somewhere in Alabama.
Detective Lance Deaton of the Columbus police told CNN the Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued an Amber Alert Saturday for Fabiola Morales. Fabiola has been missing since Thursday and is believed to be in the hands of Luis Garcia, 18. Police have put out a kidnapping warrant for him.
Later on Sunday, CNN.com reported that police had found Fabiola and arrested her alleged kidnapper. Fabiola was located at a residence in Jasper, Alabama. She was with Luis Garcia, 18, who had a previous kidnapping warrant, according to police.
